The 2022 TOIL Pinot Noir was stored in only 7% new French oak barrels before bottling. Winemaker Chris Figgins calls this the ‘miracle vintage’ due to the lack of heat and damp conditions during the growing season which led to a beautiful September and October. This may be the finest Pinot Noir that Chris Figgins has yet produced. The color is a Syrah-like black. Very dark fruit-driven and brooding in its wild blackberry and black raspberry flavor profile, the stony and earthy tones, as well as smooth texture, give this a sense of opulence. Totally stunning, enjoy this heavy hitter of a wine now and over the next ten to fifteen years. Drink 2024-2038

Sporting a medium neon ruby core with a blueish rim, the 2022
Oregon Pinot Noir from Toil is a spicy, savory-driven wine that is mingled with
notes of lush blueberries, mountain huckleberries, sweet clove, ground white
pepper, and lavender flowers. Medium-bodied with sweet acidity and fine-grained
tannins, this one as the stuff to age well for the next 8-10 years.

Violet and lavender florals come together with crushed blackberries and hints of sage as the 2022 Pinot Noir blossoms in the glass. This sweeps across the palate with ripe wild berry fruits and sweet spices, taking on a crunch of tart cranberry toward the close. Blue and purple florals resonate as the 2022 finishes with a coating of edgy tannins and a raspberry concentration, all lifted by a bump of zesty acidity.

Aromas of elderberries, vanilla and violets make for a nice introduction. The wine's mouthfeel is tart and brisk, making flavors like Bing cherry and coffee feel like they are vibrating on one of those toy electric football fields. The Toil is as energizing as a cold shower.
