Toil Oregon wines are rooted in the Chehalem Mountains AVA of the picturesque Willamette Valley and artfully crafted alongside our sister winery, FIGGINS, in the beautiful Walla Walla Valley at the base of the Blue Mountains. While Pinot Noir remains the flagship wine, Chris' passion extends to elegantly approachable Chardonnay and patio perfect Rosé. Perched at an ideal elevation of 550-700 feet on a convex hilltop is the Toil Oregon Vineyard. Chris Figgins produced his first vintage of Pinot Noir in 2012, followed by the debut of Chardonnay and Rosé of Pinot Noir in 2016.

Gleaming light golden color. Gorgeous nose of wet rocks, honeycomb, green apple, Asian pear, and mixed white flowers. On the palate, the wine is expansive with mouthwatering minerality and a richness balanced by notes of fresh apple and lemon zest. I simply love this Chardonnay!
VINTAGE NOTES
I am calling this the “Miracle Vintage of 2022.” It featured spring frost and the coolest and wettest spring that the Willamette Valley has experienced in recent years. It lasted well into June! The months of September and October were perfectly gorgeous, helping us to get the crop ripe despite the odds. The acids are amazing in the ’22 vintage, resulting in a lovely, mouth-watering freshness.
The 2022 Oregon Chardonnay from Toil is another gorgeous effort from Chris Figgins. Displaying a light gold-lemon core with a watery rim in the glass, it pops with aromas of lemon cream, grilled pineapple, fresh pear, wet earth, and shades of white button mushrooms. Medium-bodied, it finishes with a rich, slightly earthy, and long finish.
This is as close to the tropics as you can get without an airplane. It is packed with aromas and flavors of cocoa butter, macadamia nuts, shaved lemon ice and rice candy. This wine spent nine months in French oak, 17% new and the rest neutral. Its elevated acidity tiptoes up to the edge of juiciness.

The 2022 Chardonnay is understated in the glass, wafting up with a pretty blend of freshly sliced nectarines, sweet spices and raw almonds. This is round and juicy in character, with ripe orchard fruits elevated by brisk acidity and an onset of crisp minerality that adds framework throughout. The 2022 lingers long and quite saline, forcing the mouth to water as an herbal tinge resonates.
