Toil Oregon wines are rooted in the Chehalem Mountains AVA of the picturesque Willamette Valley and artfully crafted alongside our sister winery, FIGGINS, in the beautiful Walla Walla Valley at the base of the Blue Mountains. While Pinot Noir remains the flagship wine, Chris' passion extends to elegantly approachable Chardonnay and patio perfect Rosé. Perched at an ideal elevation of 550-700 feet on a convex hilltop is the Toil Oregon Vineyard. Chris Figgins produced his first vintage of Pinot Noir in 2012, followed by the debut of Chardonnay and Rosé of Pinot Noir in 2016.

WINEMAKER'S NOTES

What an amazing vintage in Willamette. Fantastic dark color. Classic Willamette Valley nose of strawberry and raspberry with notes of black tea and dry fall leaves. It reminds me of when I was a kid and the first fall winds would blow the leaves from the original vines on the Leonetti property into my parents’ yard. When tasked with raking them, I simply loved picking up a handful and crushing the frosted, brittle leaves in my hands. A mesmerizing aroma! The wine has a gorgeous velvet palate with long, dense fruit and a flawless, refreshing finish. This vintage rivals the 2015 as one of my favorite vintages of Toil Oregon Pinot Noir!

A beautiful effort in this warm vintage by Chris Figgins, the 2018 Toil Oregon offers beautiful red florals on the nose alongside tobacco leaf, worn leather and salty soils with suggestions of kumquat zest. The palate comes off fresh and refined, with a veil of tension that runs through the core of red and dark fruits, with lovely earthy accents. Medium to full-bodied, enjoy this beauty now and over the next ten years. Drink 2025-2035
